Students may increase their international and intercultural skills by enrolling in a Language and Culture program. All students in the BA in International Studies and the Graduate Diploma in International Studies must enrol in a Language and Culture program relevant to their chosen major (country of study).

Students in any degree offered at UTS may be able to do some language study as an elective or a sub-major provided it is approved by their faculty. The UTS International Studies online handbook has further information on language studies.

calligraphyAt UTS students can study Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese or Spanish. Descriptions of individual language subjects can be found in the UTS International Studies online handbook.

Use the UTS online class timetable to see when these subjects are offered.

Languages not taught at UTS may be taken at other universities through cross institutional arrangements. Students are advised to plan ahead for this as deadlines for cross institutional enrolments will vary from one university to another.
